My Story

Hi! My name is Charli Ertl and I create art to express complex emotions. I began painting in my adulthood in 2021. My first painting, Blinding Truth, is very special to me as it was the first time I experienced an artistic download and created a piece of work solely based on what was in my head. It was pure adrenaline; the feeling of pouring this image from my mind onto a canvas. It was frustrating as well. I didn’t know how to paint, it was more just as if my hand knew what to do, it was an act of love and expression in its purest form.

From Doubts...

Throughout my art journey, between the pieces that were completed in just a few days and the pieces that took months to conspire, I have discovered that making art (and sharing it with the world) is a form of self expression and acceptance. I have felt this calling to share my art to the world, but I never could quite figure out how to do it. In reality, I had to work through the mental barriers and subconscious doubts that I had towards myself: the fear of being perceived, the lack of pure and authentic self confidence, and the lack of trust towards myself, God and the universe.

To Trust

Learning to let go and trust the plan may be a lifelong tug-o-war between my ego and soul, but I believe as long as I consistently challenge myself to be intentional with who I am as an artist and live my true values, life will reward not only me, but the collective and everyone who comes to know me and my art. 

For the World

Given the emotional nature of my art, I encourage you to create your own meanings behind each piece. Allow the art to speak to you, to connect to your emotional side and personal life. I’ll share my personal story behind the making of each painting to give context, however I believe it’s important to grant you the freedom to perceive it in your own way.
